BACKGROUND

To mark the anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution on November 26, 1949, Government of India decided to observe 26th November as ‘Constitution Day’ or ‘Samvidhan Diwas’. The 'Constitution Day' will be a part of year-long nationwide celebrations starting from 26thNovember, 2019 during which a number of activities with special emphasis on Fundamental Duties have been planned by UGC throughout the year.

Article 51A, contained in Part IV A of the Constitution deals with Fundamental Duties. These enjoin upon a citizen among other things, to abide by the Constitution, to cherish and follow noble ideals, which inspired India's struggle for freedom, to defend the country and render national service when called upon to do so, and to promote harmony and spirit of common brotherhood transcending religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THE CONTEST

Wider dissemination of information and generating greater awareness in regard to the Fundamental Duties amongst students of Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics. Encouragement towards acting, implementing and invigorating compliance with Fundamental Duties enshrined in article 51A of the Constitution.

ABOUT THE EVENT

A team comprising of two students from each institute can register for the contest.
The theme of the contest will be given on the spot related to Fundamental duties (51A (e) and (j)) .
The team will be provided 30 mins time to prepare for the contest and will be given 4 min time to deliver.
Only B.Tech/Diploma Programme students can register. The delivery on the topic can be in English/Hindi

A panel of expert academicians will judge the contest. The contest will be LIVE webcasted to the respective participating institutes.

The winners in the declamation contest will be awarded cash prizes worth :

1. Rs. 5000/- I prize

2. Rs. 3000/- II Prize

3. Rs. 2000/- III Prize

All the participants will be awarded certificate of participation and merit.

No registration fees for the event. To participate in the contest, Coordinators from the Participanting Institute may register online on or before 20th February 2020:



A team comprising of two students from each institution can register for the contest.

TA/DA to the participants of Govt. and Govt. aided institutions will be paid by NITTTR, Chandigarh, as per institute rules.

Travelling restricted to AC-3 tier is permissible.

The participants will also be provided free boarding and lodging in the institute hostel as per institute rules.
