POLICY FOR PROVIDING EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES IN NITTTR, CHANDIGARH
1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that NITTTR, Chandigarh fosters an inclusive and supportive environment by providing equal opportunity to all individuals, irrespective of their gender, caste, religion, disability, socioeconomic background, or any other characteristic. The policy aims to promote fairness in education, employment, and participation in all institutional activities.

2. Scopes

This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors associated with NITTTR, Chandigarh including various activities conducted in the institute.

3. Policy Statement
  • NITTTR, Chandigarh is committed to providing equal opportunity in admission, recruitment, promotion, academic evaluation, training, and access to facilities and services.
  • Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on race, gender, caste, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age, nationality, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
  • The institute shall actively work towards creating an environment where all members can realize their full potential without bias or barriers.
4. Equal Opportunity Principles

5. Responsibilities
  • Institute Leadership: To promote and enforce equal opportunity principles and allocate resources for related initiatives.
  • Faculty and Staff: To uphold and model non-discriminatory behaviour, provide equitable learning environments, and report violations.
  • Students: To respect diversity, avoid discriminatory behaviour, and contribute to an inclusive campus culture.
6. Implementation Strategy
  • Conduct regular awareness sessions on diversity, inclusion and legal rights.
  • Conduct sensitization programs on unconscious bias and cultural bias.
  • Ensure recruitment and admission processes are transparent and merit-based.
  • Maintain accessible infrastructure and provide assistive devices where necessary.
  • Encourage diverse representation in committees and leadership roles.
  • Promote financial aid or support for disadvantaged groups.
7. Monitoring and Review
  • The Equal Opportunities Cell will monitor adherence to this policy.
  • Regular surveys and feedback mechanisms will assess the effectiveness of equal opportunity measures.
  • The policy will be reviewed annually and updated in accordance with legal requirements and institutional goals.
8. Complaint Redressal
  • Any concerns regarding violation of equal opportunity principles should be reported to the Equal Opportunities Cell.
  • Complaints will be handled confidentially, impartially, and in a timely manner depending on the nature of problem.
  • Retaliation against complainants or witnesses will not be tolerated.
