ROBO-WAR THEME
A remote or wired controlled robot capable of fighting a one on one battle with another robot in an arena.

ARENA SPECIFICATIONS
Arena size will be 3600 mm x 3600 mm approximately having hard wooden base and fencing.

GAME RULES

  1. The competition will be played on knock-out basis consisting of 2 robots at a time, selected on the basis of a draw.
  2. The maximum duration of each round will be 5 minutes. Any team that is not ready at the specified time will be disqualified from the competition automatically.
  3. The robot will be checked for its safety before the competition and will be discarded if found unsafe for other participants and spectators.
  4. A robot is declared victorious if its opponent is immobilized or pushed out of the arena twice.
  5. A robot will be declared immobile if it cannot display linear motion of at least one inch within a time period of 30 seconds. A partially disabled robot will not be counted out if it can demonstrate some degree of controlled movement.
  6. If the competing robots survive the five minutes without getting immobilized or pushed out of the arena, the robot with the higher hit points wins. The hit point in favor of a robot “A” will be counted only for the following cases:
    1. The opponent robot “B” is hit on the sides.
    2. The opponent robot “B” is hit on front/back while “B” is approaching away from “A”.
  7. The winner moves on and the loser is eliminated from the tournament.

ROBOT CONSTRAINTS

  1. The robot should fit in a box of dimension 40 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm (l×b×h) with all mechanisms fully executing motions. Length and width is measured to the extremities of the Robot, i.e. includes any overhanging bodywork, weaponry or protrusions. The external device used to control the robot is not included in the size constraint.
  2. DC servomotors and stepper motors (12V-24V) can be used as per the design of robots.

ROBOT MOBILITY & CONTROL

  1. All robots must have visible and controlled mobility in order to compete. Methods of  mobility include Rolling wheels, tracks or the whole robot. Jumping, hopping and Flying (using airfoil, helium balloons, ornithopters, etc.) is not allowed.
  2. If the robot control is wired, then the wire should remain slack under all circumstances during the competition. All the wires coming out of the robot should be stacked as a single unit. The wires should be properly insulated. Teams are suggested to use only rated wires such as ISI marked. Loose connections or improper wiring may lead to direct disqualification even before the event.
  3. If the robot is controlled wirelessly, the robot must at least have a four frequency remote control circuit or two dual control circuits which may be interchanged before the start of the race to avoid frequency interference with other teams. The case of any interference in the wireless systems will not be considered for rematch or results.
  4. Remote control systems from toys/ available in the market may be used.

BATTERY AND POWER

  1. The machine can be powered electrically only. Batteries must be sealed, immobilized- electrolyte types (such as Li-ion, NiCd, NiMH or dry cells).
  2. Working voltages must not exceed 24V DC at any point of time.
  3. All power connections must be of an adequate grade and adequately insulated. Cables must be routed to minimize the chances of being cut.
  4. All efforts must be made to protect battery terminals from a direct short and causing a battery fire, failure to do so will cause direct disqualification.
  5. Battery Eliminators are allowed and power source would be available at the venue for the eliminators.

SAFETY RULES

  1. All weapons must have a safety cover on any sharp edges.
  2. It is responsibility of the teams to ensure the safety of the competitors and audience during the Robo-War event.
  3. The organizers and the institute will not be responsible for any injury to the participants during the TechFest events and no financial claims will be entertained in this regard.
  4. Any damage to the robot and accessories during the event will be borne by the teams. The organizers and the institute will not be responsible for the same

Special Events (Line Follower)
